Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Tiny Clips for Windows and Tiny Clips for Mac are developed and maintained by Refractored LLC. This Privacy Policy describes our practices regarding information when you use Tiny Clips on either platform, whether installed from the Microsoft Store, the Mac App Store, winget, Homebrew, TestFlight, or GitHub Releases.

No Data Collection

Tiny Clips does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or personally identifiable information (PII) of any kind. The app operates entirely on your device and does not send any data to external servers.

What We Don't Collect

  • No name, email address, or contact information
  • No location data
  • No usage analytics or telemetry
  • No crash reports sent to third-party services
  • No screen content or captured media
  • No device identifiers

Local Storage

Any captures (screenshots, videos, GIFs) you create with Tiny Clips are saved locally to a folder of your choosing on your Windows PC or Mac. Optional capture statistics (daily counts of screenshots, videos, and GIFs shown in Settings → Analytics) are stored only on your device and can be reset at any time. Refractored LLC has no access to these files or statistics.

Microphone, Camera, and Screen Access

Tiny Clips records your screen only when you start a capture. Microphone and camera access are requested only when you enable those options for a video recording, and the audio and webcam footage are written into that local recording and nowhere else. You can revoke these permissions at any time in Windows Settings or macOS System Settings.

Third-Party Services

Updates. Microsoft Store and Mac App Store installs are updated by those stores under their own privacy policies. Direct-download builds on macOS use Sparkle to check for updates; that request includes your app version and macOS version but no personally identifiable information. Direct builds on Windows check GitHub Releases for a newer version number and nothing more.

Optional Uploadcare sharing. If you choose to connect your own Uploadcare account, clips you explicitly upload are sent to your Uploadcare project under Uploadcare's terms and privacy policy. Your API keys are stored locally (in the Windows Credential Locker or macOS Keychain) and are never sent to Refractored LLC. This feature is off until you configure it.

File a Bug. The optional File a Bug action opens a pre-filled GitHub issue in your browser. Nothing is submitted unless you choose to post it on GitHub.

Children's Privacy

Tiny Clips does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Because the app collects no data at all, it is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
